Here's last weeks pictures: Bone Length Increase | One Month Three Weeks In. Another 1/4" inch increase in fibular and tibular measurement. Tibia is now 14 1/4", Fibula is now 16". I admit I have a large degree of measurement bias but as I've said before that will correct itself over time(I do usually move the ruler forward or back a little bit so it's exactly a 1/4 of an inch). I measured myself on the wall and I was 5'9 1/4".
I've been looking back over my old pictures and there's definitely some measurement bias but not enough to account for all the growth. I don't understand what's taking the scientists so long and why don't they just insert bone marrow derived mesenchymal stem cells into the hyaline cartilage of the growth plate line. Is it because they're too focused on HGH? Is it because the government doesn't want people to get bigger as bigger people cost more money? I know of someone using a table clamp to perform LSJL on the top part of his tibia. The shinbone is not flat and straight at the ends. I think that the higher up the bone on the epiphysis that lateral synovial joint loading is performed the better(more potential for increase in interstitial fluid flow to deliver stem cells to the hyaline cartilage and more microfractures to release the stem cells). The ankle is easy because there's a nice point at the end for you to the put the dumbell on(or to tap it). It's not quite at the end of the bone but I think the convenience advantage outweighs that(it's still above the epiphyseal line).
I'll have to try to get a table clamp to see if it works better than dumbells but in the rat studies they used a very wide screw and managed to get results. However, there's a different in getting enough results to prove a phenomena and getting enough results that are visible plus significant.
I think you should begin measuring from some specific point on your knee to some specific point on your ankle/foot.
ReplyDeleteSo you are actually 5'9" now? That's really good to hear, but they say you temporarily grow by 1 inch every morning due to extension of your spine at sleep. Did you count that in too? And do you think it's possible for collar bones to grow? Because wider shoulder is one thing that differs how short and tall people look, you know.

ReplyDeleteI don't think the spine decompresses by 1 inch. I measure after the gym each time. Yeah it is possible for the collar bones to grow. They are long bones so they should grow by lateral loading of the epiphysis of those bones. It's just hard to laterally load them. I am trying to tap them though but it's pretty hard to tap them except for the end of the bone close to the sternum.

Congratulations. Can't wait until the results are undoubtable even when accounting for measurement error. Also, how long are you loading your joints? I thought you wrote 30 seconds somewhere, but the LSJL tests by Yokota/turner/zhang say they did them for 3 to 5 mins on the mice. Just wanted to know why only 30 secs. Anyways keep it up!
ReplyDeleteYour first fibula measurement (one month in) might show a slight increase but otherwise it's impossible to see because you move your measuring point up the knee for every new set of photos. Please look at your photos and you will see this. You are probably doing this because you really want to see growth. But what we want is real growth, not imaginary.

Seriously, how can you not see that you are moving the end of the measure tape higher and higher up on the knee for each picture. Sadly it probably amounts to all the growth you measure.
ReplyDeleteI have started doing LSJL with a 10 pound dumbbell and will work my way up to 37 pounds (all i have). I have a feeling that I'm not doing it the right way.

I do not see my moving the tape measure higher and higher up each picture. I see my doing it after only one picture. The one where I didn't have any height gain. I don't have a stationary cam to make a video. You're not really doing anything with a dumbell. You're just pushing down on the synovial joint area.
ReplyDeletePlease mark two points on your leg with a pen or so and stick to measure between them. Your 1/4 inch per week growth rate is definitely at least mostly because of bad measurement. But you might actually have gotten some small growth and that would be important to find out.

emmm i tot maybe u could include another measurement to the current set of results. just proposing maybe you could measure ur length of your lower legs while in a sitting position. in other words,from the bottom of your feet all the way to the top of ur knees while sitting. maybe u can compare against a table or sth. This may confirm your other measurements or that there is really increase in lower legs bone length.. jus my tots here.
ReplyDeleteno offense but marking on ur legs, in my opinion, may not be a gd idea, given that its ugliness " scar". in the event you grow, who noes will the position of the mark remains?drop?rise? unless u noe how the skins tissues grow in relation to bone. moreover, the mark may disappear due to other factors.
ReplyDeleteHence, i feel that adding another metric wld be a gd idea. compare against a table leg or top while in a sitting position. measure from the ground all the way to the top of ur knees with lower legs pressing against a sturdy table leg to ensure it's perpendicular to the ground. It wld be pretty obvious if there is growth in the lower legs.
how do you measure your height? using a book? or a machine?
ReplyDeleteWhere on the shins and the ankles should I do the tapping method. Do I bend the knees and try to find the top of the shin bone and do I tap on the top or the sides of the ankles. Above or below the bump on the sides of the foot? thank you
ReplyDeleteYes, for tapping you bend the knee and find the top of the shin bone. You might want to try tapping a variety of areas(anything above the growth plate line) to cause a variety of microfractures. Same with the ankle, anywhere above the growth plate line will work(in the epiphysis).
